ensorcel
/ɛnˈsɔːs(ə)l/ · verb

To enchant or fascinate; to bind with a spell.

…and an -arium is a place where something is kept, grown, or made. Ensorcerium: the place where enchantment is made.

About

A one-maker studio in Liverpool

Ensorcerium is run by one person — the same person who designs your decal, previews it with you, cuts it, weeds it, packs it and posts it. No warehouse, no queue of strangers handling your words.

That's why every order and enquiry gets a preview. A personalised decal isn't just vinyl — it's a name on a child's door, a line from a first dance, the words someone reads every morning. It deserves to be right before it's cut.

Everything about how quickly we make your order and how it reaches you.

Processing Times
  • Between and up to 1–5 working days from the time you place your order. However, for 90% of our orders, we usually have orders produced and dispatched within 1–3 days.
  • Received orders will be processed the next day. For example, if an order is placed on a Wednesday, the count begins on Thursday. If you order on a Saturday or Sunday, please start counting from Monday and so on.
  • When applicable, we occasionally work weekends to dispatch orders received on Friday/Saturday/Sunday for the next working day.
  • When you buy a product, we may list individual processing times next to it.
Delivery/Shipping Service
  • All of our orders are sent by Royal Mail unless there's a special requirement such as difficulty entering certain countries.
Delivery/Shipping Times

Please keep in mind that the order processing time is not the same as the dispatch delivery time and that you must factor in Royal Mail's delivery times in addition to our order processing time.

The following delivery times are a general estimate given by Royal Mail and are not to be taken as guaranteed/accurate.

  • UK & Ireland: 1 to 2 working days.
Example: An order is placed on a Monday, processed and dispatched on a Wednesday (with our 1 to 5 working days time frame), shipping takes 1–2 days, and the predicted arrival date is Thursday/Friday.
  • Royal Mail shipping timeframes are beyond our control and may be extended during peak seasons or during holidays.
How Are the Order(s) Shipped?
  • UK & Ireland: 1st Class Large Letter or Small Parcel (non-signed).
We may upgrade your shipping to tracked/signed on some orders, but we do it on a case-by-case basis. Domestic orders are usually much easier to communicate with Royal Mail if any problems arise.
  • When an order is dispatched we obtain proof of postage for our record keeping and in the event that a dispute may occur.
  • We default to sending all orders as Large Letters (when possible), ensuring that it can be posted through your letterbox without the need to collect it if you aren't present.
Do You Ship Outside the UK?

Yes but only via Etsy at this time.

Delivery Disclaimers — Please Read
  • Royal Mail delivery times can vary during busy periods, and we hold no responsibility for postal delays as this is outside of our control.

What Is a Decal?

Vinyl, transfer tape, finishes and file types — everything worth knowing before you order, in plain English.

What Is a Decal?

A decal is a design cut from a single sheet of coloured vinyl — every letter and shape is cut out individually, then "weeded" by hand to remove the excess. Unlike a printed sticker, there is no printed ink and no square edge around the design: what you receive is only the design itself.

We cut from premium self-adhesive vinyl chosen for indoor and outdoor durability, with finishes and colours listed on every product. (Placeholder — final material/brand/lifespan spec to be confirmed for screening.)

Decals Have No Background

Because a decal is cut, not printed, it has no background of its own — your wall, glass, car or laptop becomes the background. If you order white lettering, the letters arrive in white vinyl and everything between them will be your surface showing through.

This is the single most common thing customers ask about, so if you're ever unsure how a design will look on your surface, just ask — we preview every order and enquiry.

Transfer Tape Explained

Your decal arrives sandwiched between a backing paper and a layer of transfer tape. The tape holds every letter in perfect alignment so the whole design applies in one go. Depending on your order, we use one of three types:

  • Grid transfer tape — printed with alignment squares to help you position the decal level on your surface.
  • Clear transfer tape — fully transparent, ideal for precise placement where you need to see exactly what's underneath.
  • Paper transfer tape — a paper-based tape that's easy to work with and smooths down well on flat surfaces.

(Placeholder copy — to be aligned with the transfer tape explainer graphics.)

Finishes: Gloss, Matt & Specials
  • Gloss — a shine that catches the light; bold and vivid, the classic decal look.
  • Matt — a flat, modern finish with no reflection; often looks painted-on, especially on walls.
  • Specials — glitter, metallic, reflective and other effect vinyls. These look far better in person than any photograph can show.

(Placeholder — finish availability per product to be confirmed.)

Art Preparation & What We Can Cut

Every design is prepared as a vector cut file before production. Because each shape is physically cut and hand-weeded, very fine details have practical limits — hairline strokes, tiny counters (the holes in letters like "e" and "a") and intricate flourishes may need the overall size increasing to cut cleanly.

All sizes are given in centimetres, and if your wording or artwork needs adjusting to cut well at your chosen size, we'll tell you at the preview stage before anything is made.

Applying Your Decal
Video instructions coming soonStep-by-step application video will live here.

Every order includes easy application instructions. In short: clean the surface, position the decal, smooth it down firmly through the transfer tape, then peel the tape back slowly at a sharp angle. Full written and video guidance to follow. (Placeholder.)

Decal vs Digital File — What's the Difference?
  • A vinyl decal is a physical product: we cut it, weed it, tape it and post it to you, ready to apply.
  • A digital file (SVG) is an instant download: you receive the watermark-free cut file to use with your own cutting machine. Nothing is posted.

Digital file licences:

  • Personal: You may use the watermark-free digital file purchase for your own projects and for personal items.
  • Commercial: You may use the watermark-free digital file purchase for projects for commercial purposes such as commission external artwork.
Copyright, Trademarks & IP

All designs, illustrations and photos are produced by Ensorcerium or have been purchased for commercial use or are in the public domain.

We do not produce decals of trademarked logos, licensed characters or other protected artwork without proof of permission from the rights holder. If you're unsure whether your request can be made, just ask — we'll always tell you straight.
